Tsuen Wan Town Hall: A Different Kind of Classical Heritage

Description
Heritage is not just about repeating the classics, but also about finding a new language for our time. This year's 'Heritage‧Classics' has transformed into 'A Different Kind of Classical Heritage' with a fresh new approach, featuring an innovative repertoire including Peng Xiuwen's 'The Ever-lasting Night in the Shadow of Hong Kong', Wu Jingbin's adapted suite 'The "Impossible" Medley', Bai Haoyu's 'Rainy Night Flower' and 'Black Running Horse', as well as a new arrangement of 'Ambush from All Sides' featuring a variety of instruments, and the grand finale 'Echoes of Tang'. This concert marks a bold attempt by the Hong Kong Green Youth Chinese Orchestra to not only preserve the essence of ancient music but also challenge the musical expressiveness of its members.
To continue the legacy, the orchestra will once again collaborate with the 'Heart Music Collection' nominated composers to create brand-new works tailored for youth Chinese orchestras. This year, composer Samson Sun is commissioned to create a world premiere work that combines familiar melodies with a lively imagination and a clever fusion of Chinese orchestral arrangements, bringing surprise and anticipation to the audience.
